Hello, I’m Carine, the founder and creative force behind CarineStarBakes, a Norfolk-based luxury cake design and decorating business.

My journey into cake decorating began in an unexpected place. In 2018, while studying for my PhD, I was advised to find a creative outlet to maintain balance and sanity alongside research life. Sport wasn’t quite my calling, so I turned to baking “just for fun.” What started as a simple distraction quickly became a deep love for the artistry, creativity, and precision of cake decorating.

Before long, I was completely immersed — watching countless episodes of Extreme Cake Makers, studying tutorials across YouTube, Netflix, and beyond, and spending my evenings experimenting with new techniques. I found myself eagerly counting down the end of lab days, excited to head home and practise something new I’d learned the night before. Cake decorating became more than a hobby; it became a creative escape and a source of genuine joy. Today, CarineStarBakes is the result of that passion — a self-taught baker and decorator ready to bring your vision to life, with a guarantee to wow both you and your guests.

At CarineStarBakes, flavour is just as important as aesthetics. Every recipe I use has been carefully developed and thoroughly taste-tested by friends and family (with rave reviews!) to ensure that each cake is just as delicious as it is beautiful. CarineStarBakes operates from my family home kitchen, which is fully insured, registered with the local council, and proudly holds a 5-star Food Safety and Hygiene rating — so you can order with complete confidence.
